Context

A sound-led project by Yasemin Vollmond and Kimi Recor.

They play live sound sessions and run gong and breathwork trainings in Berlin and Munich.

My part was visual design and layout, adapting The Portal’s visual language across these formats. The teaching content is theirs.

Visual language

The language is in what repeats.

Across slides, posts and flyers, four things repeat.

Study of Gong

A teaching deck that keeps its rhythm.

Visual Design / Layout / Presentation System

The Study of Gong is Yasemin Vollmond’s teaching material on the instrument: its history, the sound ceremonies it grew out of, the anatomy of the gong and the tools of the craft.

Two templates alternate. Chapter openers put stacked yellow caps on black-and-white photography; information pages switch to white, with the image on the left and the argument on the right. Dense content and visual pause take turns, and the eye always knows where it is.

Campaign system

Different content.
One visual frequency.

The gong week and the breathwork weekend share one front: a photograph of the room, the wordmark top left, three columns of facts, the title in yellow. Their information pages share the blue grid.

Across formats

Portrait, square, landscape.

The same elements survive every proportion. On a 16:9 slide the type stacks over the photograph; on a square page it moves into columns; on a 4:5 post the parenthesis becomes the picture itself.

Evolve Festival

The festival voice.

Outcome

A system that can change its subject without changing its character.

Trainings, events, a festival stage and a teaching deck read as one sender. The parenthesis, the stacked caps and the single photograph hold the family together; colour and format are free to follow the content.
